Shower of Victory

For two months, I have given Lucy a bath most nights and gotten her ready for bed before putting the boys in the shower. Every single night for those two months, Lucy has tried to get into the shower with them -- over and over again -- even though she's bathed, brushed, lotioned and dressed. I would get frustrated, trying to keep her out of the shower yet also out of trouble while Jeff worked late.

Finally, I was done.

After pulling her out of the bathroom for the 47th time in one night with a stern "no, it's your brothers' time," I gave in. Hey, I figured we could both use a cooling off.

Think she minded?

And guess who fought with me when it was time to get out -- soaked pajamas and all...

I have a feeling life with Lucy will be one battle after another. And I'm not sure I'm going to win as many as I planned. And if you're wondering, I don't know either why I didn't just start giving her a shower with them when she demanded it. I guess I tried to hang on to the baby while she was determined to be the big girl.

This is just too cute! I love that you let her go in fully clothed. It's even funnier that you were caved with the likely vindication that she would end up not liking the shower, especially in her clothing. And she loved it!! Remember, it's not that you actually win, it's that you pretend you won that gets you through the day.

Just letting you know I will not delete my previous comment to correct the grammatical error.

He will get in big tub but prefers the sink and for now that is easiest for me most of the time :) I remember the first days of screamin in the sink now he splashes and giggles :) Beautiful picture of your girl mom!

HAHAHA Jackie!! You are sooooo wrapped around her little finger! That is hilarious. Who could resist Lucy, I don't blame you one bit. :)

What a great capture with the photo, you'll love telling this to her when she gets bigger.
XO my friend!

Great picture! I love the pure, unbridled joy on Lucy's face. However, I'm sure I would not have loved being the one to peel those wet jammies off of her.

It's funny when you think about it huh? We just have to lighten up and not sweat the small stuff! By learning that we don't have to control everything our children do, we wind up catching and being a part of so much more than we could have imagined...It's easier said than done for sure, but try to let go some and enjoy the outcome. She is a beautiful little girl Jacki and she will always be your baby girl.
Thanks for sharing...

I think it's fabulous! The joy on her face is worth wet pj's. Enjoy the smiles, and the fun your little girl is bringing you!

Good for you for breaking the rules! She looks so happy to be in that shower! So the winning thing, that's all about how you position it. . .if Mommy wins when everyone is happy, and no one is getting hurt, then you won this one hands down.

We have a shower lover over here too. If I don't let her in with me the fits she'll have (and she doesn't do anything even remotely half way!)
Now I shower while she plays in her room - safely locked behind the baby gate! Peace for us both.
