Is This a Bad Reality Show?

So... we got an email. It said we should expect to get first decree next week. WAIT, before you get all excited—like I mistakenly did—it's the first decree of the guardianship case and not the actual adoption case. But that's good news, right?

Yes, it's good news. But when you expect to hear something about the guardianship case and you read the words "first decree," which often accompany the end of an adoption case, you can't help but get excited. And then to have to wait to get clarification... it feels like someone is playing a horribly cruel joke on us or a camera is following us on the new show America's Next Adoptive Parents or The Amazing, Never-ending Race to Adoption. I know "it will happen when it's supposed to" and "everything happens for a reason." But you know what, I don't care about that right now. What I care about is the little girl who needs. to. come. home.

So it comes down to this. YES... the guardianship case is coming to a close. YES...we are moving forward—albeit at a snail's pace. We're hoping to know we're logged in for our adoption case in the next couple/few weeks. And then our adoption case will start. (which, by the way—most people are quoted 4-7 mos for that)

Excuse me as I go curl up and cry.

I'm so sorry for you and your family and Lucy. I just don't understand what the problem is. She's a little girl who needs her family - you're her family who needs their little girl. I just don't get what about that is so difficult for them to understand.
I just feel so frustrated for for you.
Hugest hugs and the biggest piece of cyber chocolate I can find are on their way.

Low blow! It seems SO unfair!! If I were wealthy, I'd fly you to Taiwan every weekend to see that little cutie pie! I'm so sorry your wait is dragging out this way. Hope it's not much longer...keep that chin up! (I know, easier said than done!) We're keeping you in our thoughts.

Hang in there, girl. I am so sorry. I wish I knew what to say!!! I just want to see that little girl home and it's so frustrating that things have been moving so slowly. You're in my thoughts & prayers.

Hi Jackie! I heard about your blog through a mommy board and have been checking in religiously! Little Lucy is so adorable and sweet she melts my heart. I can't believe how long this is taking! I don't know anything about adoption but when you get guardianship can you bring her home or do you have to wait for the whole adoption to be completed?

On the bright side, at least you know where things stand vs. being left in the dark.

That being said, ARRRGHHHH!!!!!

Hi

I have been following your story for a while. You write wonderfully and I love the videos.

Can you explain (even if you have little to no answers) why/how you case is taking so long while others move long at an expected pace?

Thanks if you can.

Jackie - I'm sorry you're feeling so discouraged. But it is good news that the case is finally going into the regular courts. Maybe the judge will see that you have had to wait for so long and make an immediate ruling. ((HUGS))

ok so one tiny step but an important one! She is on her way home soon! Let's pray it's the super fast judge! Now is not the time to give up hope! We need to really pray for that judge!
XOXO,
