Mom, You're Not LISTENING!

What do you do when you're 4 1/2, the oldest of three, and your mother just does not seem to be paying attention to your needs?

Wow - did he write that himself at 4.5? Very impressive!

HE WROTE THIS HIMSELF??? OMGosh! I am super duper impressed! I just got the same message yesterday, too, albeit verbally since Mikey can't spell. He wants mommy to quit working so much so she can play with him. Ooooh, talk about the guilt. Hurts to even write it!

Let's see...4 and a half, knows his letters(what they look like and how they sound), can correctly put those letters together forming correctly spelled words and even uses grammer correctly ("May I" as opposed to "Can I". So...is he enrolled in college yet? My four and a half year old knows what letters look like and knows what a few of them sound like, but that's it! I can't even guarantee my 6 year old would spell everything correctly and use correct grammer! I'd say whenever you feel guilty about not being there enough for your kids, just look back at this and give yourself a pat on the back!

As much as I would love to take credit, it's just what he loves. Ever since he was little little (before two) he could recognize.

Also, one little game I learned when I was trying to potty train him...
we sing the alphabet but, instead of the letters, we sing the sounds

ah-ba-ka-da-eh-fa-ga-ha-ih-ja-ka-la... you get it. all we do around here is sing silly stuff.

One of my most treasured pieces of my youngest son's childhood is a piece of paper, still stuck in a cookbook in the kitchen (he's 21 :) from when he was first starting to learn to write. The note says, "We're out of Granola" in his sound and spell writing - I'd have to go get it to put it here exactly, but it was hysterical and I remember that day well.

I was on the phone to my husband giving him the list of items to bring home from the store and Alex couldn't get my attention so he wrote the note. I laughed so hard when I finally figured out what it was he wanted that he got a hug, granola, and place in our family's history.

But how politely he asked!

It's hard with two to try to give attention, I can't imagine three.
