Light of Our Lives

Here are some random photos from the past week. We had a neighborhood party, did our traditional hot cocoa and Christmas lights night (where I met another adoptive mom from China who lives in the area -- woo hoo!) and the last photo is of Miss Lucy's first candy cane. Enjoy!Let's be goofy when mom says "cheese."
OK, we'll pose.
Our mini stunt woman in back.
Hey, I don't trust him behind me.

Hey, this is cool.

Four going on 14.
Now that's a lot of electricity.
The dynamic trio.

When else do you get a Christmas tree in the middle of the street?
Giggle men.
I like candy canes!

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about- Christmas lights!!!

Last night, we went out driving to try and see the displays around town and were SOOOOOO DISAPPOINTED! Between people doing the "classy, understated" lights and, I'm assuming, the economy (high electric bills?)- the lights were pitiful! We wanted the bright, loud, tacky stuff.

Having grown up in SoCal, I remember some doozies. One of the neighborhoods we lived in in Oceanside had block participation on the lights, even! Lit, cardboard cut-outs of santa and his reindeer on the house-tops with rope connecting the reindeer across the houses... that effort didn't even end the year one family got transferred out of state- I always marveled at how they must have handed the new family the keys and then told them where the reindeer were and insisted they uphold the tradition! ha!

Anyway, I missed San Diego last night. That doesn't often happen to me as we really love Nashville. But, c'mon people!, the lights here are PITIFUL!!!

And, of course, Jackie, your three gorgeous children are as delicious as ever in their Christmas-y photos. Happy Christmas to your family!
