The Good, The Sad, and The Waiting...

Ever since we accepted Lucy's referral on 9/24, there has been so much to get excited about. Getting our dossier together... surprise new photos and updates...meeting other families adopting from Taiwan -- it's all kept us busy and smiling. Add two preschoolers to the mix and it's easy to get distracted from waiting. But now, it's really sinking in. I'm so lucky to have met other waiting moms who are in the same boat but knowing it can be months and months before we hold our daughter is much more difficult to deal with than we expected.

When you become a parent, you're so surprised that no one told you how much it's possible to feel for a tiny human being you've only known for a short time. But when you adopt, no one tells you how overnight, this stranger becomes your child...part of your family - at least in your heart.

It doesn't seem possible that there will come a day when we get to meet Lucy and love her forever. Please pray that it happens soon. We are!

The waiting after finally seeing a picture certainly gave us pause when considering Taiwan adoption. My heart hurts at the idea of having to wait 6 months to travel after being matched- and we've not received a referral yet!

But, even though at times it may not seem "real"- you really will have Lucy in your arms. I've seen countless other families make it to Gotcha Day, and you will too!

I feel more and more that the waiting for court process will be some of the most difficult days of my life. My heart goes out to you!! Seeing that sweet little face looking out from a photograph, and not being able to touch, hold or kiss her must be heartwrenching. We will be praying for your family - for God's peace, comfort, and love to be evident - and for Lucy to feel the love of her mama and daddy and big brothers even over the miles! Hang in there, she'll be home soon!!!

Hi, it's Mel from the yahoo group. So happy I found your blog! This waiting process stinks...but the reward at the end of the journey is going to be soooo worth it! Wouldn't it be neat if we ended up travelling at the same time!?

Kerry always reminds me that the "wait" on the other side is much harder. I know that will be true. The picture is beautiful, I hope you can go to get her SOON!!!!

Jackie, found this poem and thought of you!

How Could You Know?

As you lay sleeping far away
As still as you could be...
How could you know the joy today This photo brings to me?

A few short weeks and you'll be mine,
And "I" will soon be "We".
How could you know the love I feel?
It's something you can't see.

So have sweet dreams, my precious babe.
Sleep well and tenderly.
Some say that you're the lucky one.
How could you know it's me?
